Abstract

This study discusses the role of Islamic education in promoting gender equality in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) by emphasizing the importance of a moderation perspective (tawazun and tawasuth) and anti-corruption values to support sustainable development. Islam normatively places men and women in an equal position, but the social reality in NTB still shows obstacles in the form of patriarchy, early marriage, and local traditions that limit the role of women. Through literature research with a descriptive qualitative approach, it was found that Islamic education can be an agent of change by integrating an inclusive curriculum, teacher role models (uswah hasanah), and synergy with community empowerment programs. The moderation perspective is the key to maintaining a balance between Islamic values and the needs of modernity, so that the role of women is no longer marginalized. Meanwhile, anti-corruption values need to be instilled from an early age to build integrity, transparent governance, and a fair participation space for women. The results of this study show that Islamic education has the potential to be the foundation in building a fair, equitable, and integrity society in NTB, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
