Publication Ethics
The Lombok Journal of Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Conservation (LjMBC) is a peer-reviewed journal; therefore, it is expected that all parties involved in the publication of this journal, including editors, reviewers, authors, and publishers, agree to the following standards for publication ethics. The Lombok Journal of Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Conservation (LjMBC) follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers in handling all aspects of publication ethics, particularly in cases related to research and publication errors. The following reviews describe the standards of Publication Ethics for editors, reviewers, and authors. Additionally, Master's Program in Biology, Faculty of Mathetamics and Natural Sciences, University of Mataram, as the publisher of The Lombok Journal of Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Conservation (LjMBC) , supports timely publication and does not have the authority to interfere with the integrity of the published content.
The following duties outlined for editors, authors, and reviewers are based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and include the Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers for Authors, Reviewers, and Editors. The Editor-in-Chief & Managing Editors, Editorial Boards, and Publisher will also adhere to the submission guideline policies of The Lombok Journal of Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Conservation (LjMBC).
Duties of the Authors
- Authors should present an accurate report of their original research and an objective discussion of its significance. The manuscript must follow the journal's submission guidelines. (See submission guideline policies).
- Authors are responsible for ensuring that only new and original work is submitted.
- Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Additionally, authors are expected not to publish redundant manuscripts or manuscripts describing the same research in more than one journal.
- Authors must not submit articles that are under review or being considered by The Lombok Journal of Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Conservation (LjMBC) to other journals simultaneously.
- Authors should acknowledge all data sources used in their research and cite publications that have influenced their research.
- The principal author is limited to those who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. Others who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Authors must also ensure that all authors have seen and agreed to the submitted version of the manuscript and their inclusion as co-authors.
- Authors must provide raw data related to their manuscript for editorial review and must retain such data.
- If at any point an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in the submitted manuscript, the error or inaccuracy must be reported to the editor.
- Authors may only publish their work elsewhere after receiving an official rejection from the journal or if their request to withdraw their work is officially accepted by The Lombok Journal of Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Conservation (LjMBC).
- Authors must make significant contributions and be accountable for any shortcomings in their work.
Duties of the Reviewers
- Information regarding manuscripts submitted by authors must be kept confidential and treated as privileged information.
- Reviewers may refuse to review a submission due to a conflict of interest or inadequate knowledge.
- Reviewers must ensure that authors have acknowledged all data sources used in their research. Any form of ethical misconduct, similarity, or overlap between the manuscript under review and other publications personally known to the reviewer must be immediately reported to the editor.
- The review of submitted manuscripts must be conducted objectively and fairly, and reviewers should express their views clearly and professionally with supporting arguments.
- Reviewers must disclose any competing interests before agreeing to review a submission.
- If a reviewer feels it is not possible to complete the review within the stipulated time, this information must be communicated to the editor so that the manuscript can be sent to another reviewer.
- Reviewers must ensure the originality of the manuscript and be vigilant about plagiarism and redundant publications.
- Reviewers must not discuss the content of the manuscript without permission.
- Reviewers must adhere to the allocated time for the review process. Requests for an extension to review a submission are entirely at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief.
Duties of the Editors
- Based on the review report from the editorial board, the editor may accept, reject, or request modifications to the manuscript.
- Each editor must ensure that each manuscript is initially evaluated for originality using appropriate software. After the initial review, the manuscript is forwarded for blind peer review to the editorial board, which will make a recommendation to accept, reject, or modify the manuscript.
- The editor must ensure that each manuscript received by The Lombok Journal of Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Conservation (LjMBC) is reviewed based on its intellectual content, regardless of the author's gender, race, religion, citizenship, etc.
- The editor must maintain the confidentiality of information regarding manuscripts submitted by the authors.
- The editor will not use unpublished materials from the submitted manuscript for their own research without the written consent of the author.
Duties of the Editorial Board Members
- Actively contribute to the development and improvement of The Lombok Journal of Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Conservation (LjMBC).
- Serve as ambassadors for the journal.
- Continuously support and promote the journal.
- Review any work assigned to them.
Duties of the Editor-in-Chief & Managing Editors
- Evaluate manuscripts fairly and solely based on their intellectual quality.
- Maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and not disclose any related information to anyone other than those involved in the publishing process.
- Be responsible for deciding when and which articles will be published.
- Actively seek input from board members, reviewers, and authors to enhance the image and visibility of The Lombok Journal of Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Conservation (LjMBC).
- Provide clear instructions to potential contributors regarding the submission process and expectations for authors.
- Ensure that appropriate reviewers are selected/identified for the review process.
Duties of the Publisher
- Handling Unethical Publishing Behavior
In cases of alleged or proven scientific misconduct, fraudulent publication, or plagiarism, the publisher works with the editors to take appropriate steps to clarify the situation and amend the affected article. This includes the publication of corrections, clarifications, or, in the most severe cases, the retraction of the affected work. - Access to Journal Content
The publisher is committed to the permanent availability and preservation of scholarly research by partnering with organizations and maintaining its own digital archive.
