Author Guidelines

Authors who wish to submit their manuscripts to Kotaragama Comparativa must carefully read and follow the guidelines below. Manuscripts that do not comply with these guidelines will be returned or rejected at the initial stage by the editors.

1. General Requirements
  • The manuscript must be original and has not been published or submitted to any other journal.
  • The manuscript must be written in Bahasa Indonesia or English.
  • The manuscript must be prepared using the official Kotaragama Comparativa template (available for download).
  • The similarity index must be below 25% (checked using Turnitin).
  • All manuscripts undergo a single-blind peer review process.
2. Manuscript Structure
Title Maximum 15 words, concise, informative, and reflects the content of the research. Avoid abbreviations and formulas.
Author Information Full name (without academic title), affiliation, and email address of each author.
Abstract 150–250 words, written in one paragraph, containing the purpose, method, main findings, and conclusion. Must be written in English (even if the article is in Bahasa Indonesia).
Keywords 3–5 keywords that represent the main content of the article.
Introduction Contains the background, research problems, objectives, and a brief review of relevant previous studies (state of the art).
Research Method Explains the type of research, data sources, data collection techniques, and data analysis methods. For normative legal research, specify the type of legal approach used (statute, conceptual, comparative, case, or historical approach).
Results and Discussion Presents the research findings and analyzes them critically in relation to relevant theories and previous studies. This is the main part of the article.
Conclusion Contains a brief answer to the research problems and, if possible, recommendations for future research or policy.
Acknowledgment (Optional) Appreciation to funding institutions or parties who contributed to the research.

Margins Top: 3 cm, Bottom: 3 cm, Left: 4 cm, Right: 3 cm
Page Length 10–20 pages (including references)
File Format Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
4. References

Kotaragama Comparativa uses the Chicago Manual of Style (Notes and Bibliography) for citations and references. Authors are strongly recommended to use a reference manager such as Mendeley or Zotero.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 15 references
  • At least 80% from scientific journals
  • References published within the last 10 years (except for classical or historical legal sources)

5. Submission Process
  1. Register or log in to the Kotaragama Comparativa OJS submission system.
  2. Click "New Submission" and follow the step-by-step submission process.
  3. Upload the manuscript file in .doc or .docx format.
  4. Fill in all required metadata (title, abstract, keywords, author information).
  5. Confirm and submit the manuscript.
  6. The editorial team will conduct an initial screening (format and scope check) within 1 week.
  7. If passed, the manuscript will be sent to 2 reviewers for peer review (approximately 4–6 weeks).
  8. Authors will receive a decision letter (Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject).
  9. Revised manuscripts must be resubmitted within 2 weeks.
  10. Accepted manuscripts will enter the production and publication stage.
6. Publication Ethics
Authors must adhere to the following ethical standards:
  • Originality: The manuscript must be original and free from plagiarism.
  • No Dual Submission: Do not submit the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously.
  • Authorship: Only individuals who made significant contributions to the research should be listed as authors.
  • Data Integrity: Research data must be真实 (authentic) and not fabricated or falsified.
  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
  • AI Policy: The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools must be disclosed. AI cannot be listed as an author.
7. Article Processing Charge (APC)
Kotaragama Comparativa does not charge any submission fee. However, an Article Processing Charge (APC) of Rp 500.000 will be applied only for manuscripts that have been accepted for publication. This fee covers the costs of editing, layout, DOI registration, and online hosting.
8. Copyright and Licensing
By submitting a manuscript to Kotaragama Comparativa, authors agree that the copyright of the published article will be held by the journal. All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0), which allows others to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the work, even commercially, as long as appropriate credit is given.
