Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

A rigorous and fair evaluation process to ensure the highest quality of legal scholarship published in Juris Criminalis.

Type of Peer Review

Juris Criminalis employs a Single-Blind Peer Review process. In this system, the reviewers are aware of the authors' identities, but the authors do not know who the reviewers are. This approach allows reviewers to provide honest, unbiased feedback while maintaining accountability in the evaluation process.

Review Process Overview

Every manuscript submitted to Juris Criminalis undergoes a comprehensive evaluation process designed to maintain academic rigor and publication quality. The process typically involves the following stages:

Stage 1

Initial Screening

The editorial team conducts preliminary checks for completeness, formatting compliance, plagiarism (Turnitin), and alignment with the journal's scope. Manuscripts that fail this stage are rejected immediately.

Stage 2

Editorial Review

The Editor-in-Chief or assigned editor evaluates the manuscript's novelty, relevance, and overall quality. If approved, the manuscript proceeds to the peer review stage.

Stage 3

Reviewer Assignment

At least two expert reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject matter are assigned. Reviewers are selected from our editorial board or external experts in criminal law and related fields.

Stage 4

Peer Review Evaluation

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript using standardized criteria and provide detailed feedback, recommendations, and scores. This stage typically takes 2-4 weeks.

Stage 5

Editorial Decision

Based on reviewers' recommendations, the editor makes a decision: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject. Authors are notified via email with detailed feedback.

Stage 6

Revision & Final Review

Authors revise their manuscript according to reviewers' comments. Revised manuscripts may undergo additional review before final acceptance.
