Author Guidelines

Comprehensive instructions to help you prepare and submit your manuscript to Juris Criminalis.

General Requirements

Manuscripts submitted to Juris Criminalis must be original, unpublished, and not currently under consideration by another journal. The journal accepts articles written in Bahasa Indonesia or English.

Manuscript Structure

Articles should follow the standard structure for legal research. Please ensure your manuscript includes the following sections in order:

1. Title

Concise, informative, and reflective of the core legal issue. Avoid abbreviations and formulas.

2. Abstract

150-250 words summarizing the background, objective, method, and main findings. Do not include citations.

3. Keywords

3 to 5 keywords or short phrases that capture the essence of the research for indexing purposes.

4. Introduction

Must contain the background, urgency of the research, state-of-the-art, and the novelty of the study.

5. Research Method

Explain the type of legal research (normative/empirical), data sources, and data analysis techniques.

6. Discussion

The core of the article. Analyze the legal issues comprehensively, supported by strong arguments and legal theories.

7. Conclusion

A brief summary of the findings and answers to the research objectives. Can include recommendations.

8. Acknowledgment

Optional. Briefly mention funding sources, grants, or individuals who contributed to the research.

Formatting and Referencing Style

Document Formatting

  • Paper Size: A4
  • Margins: Top 3 cm, Bottom 3 cm, Left 4 cm, Right 3 cm
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt
  • Spacing: 1.5 lines
  • Headings: Bold, numbered systematically (1., 1.1., 1.1.1.)

Citation & Referencing

Juris Criminalis uses the Chicago Manual of Style (Notes and Bibliography) with Footnotes.

  • Citations must be placed in footnotes (not endnotes).
  • Use reference management software (Mendeley or Zotero).
  • References: Minimum 15-20 sources.
  • At least 80% must be primary sources (books, journals, regulations).
  • References should ideally be from the last 5-10 years.

Submission Process

All manuscripts must be submitted online through our Open Journal Systems (OJS). Please follow these steps:

Create an account as an Author on the journal website.

Login

Log in to your account and navigate to the dashboard.

New Submission

Click "New Submission" and follow the 5-step wizard.

Upload

Upload your manuscript file and complete the metadata.

Pre-Submission Checklist

Before clicking submit, please ensure your manuscript meets the following criteria:

  • The manuscript is original and has not been published elsewhere.
  • The file is in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
  • The text is single-spaced (or 1.5 spaced), 12-point Times New Roman font.
  • All URLs/references are active and correctly formatted in Chicago style.
  • The similarity index (Turnitin) is below 25%.
  • All authors' names, affiliations, and emails are correctly listed.
