The sand lobster (Panulirus homarus) is a high-value fishery commodity with growing demand in both local and international markets. Dusun Ujung Betok, designated as a lobster aquaculture area in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), offers great potential for community-based lobster farming. Local fishers have established the Segare Lauq Joint Business Group (KUB), focusing on fisheries and marine aquaculture, particularly lobsters. A major challenge in lobster farming is the low survival rate of seeds, with nearly 50% of wild-caught or imported seeds dying within one to two days of culture. To address this, quarantine units were introduced for seed conditioning before stocking. The units, cylindrical in shape (1.5 m high, 1 m diameter, 1-inch mesh size), were developed with technical assistance provided through this program. These quarantine units improve seed health, uniformity, and readiness for culture, while also serving to hold harvested lobsters for sorting and reducing stress prior to shipment. This community service activity, under the Pengabdian Karya Dosen scheme, not only supports sustainable lobster farming but also contributes to IKU 5 by ensuring that academic outputs are directly applied and beneficial to society.
