About the Journal
Mataram Journal of International Law (MAJIL) is a peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal dedicated to the dissemination of high-quality research in the field of law, with a particular focus on international law, constitutional law, and broader legal studies.
MAJIL is published biannually (June and December) and welcomes original research articles, conceptual papers, and scholarly analyses that have not been previously published or are not under consideration for publication elsewhere. The journal aims to provide a platform for critical discussion and the development of legal scholarship in both national and international contexts.
The scope of the journal focuses on advancing rigorous scholarship in international law and justice, particularly on the interaction between global legal frameworks and their implementation in Indonesia. It covers areas such as public international law, international human rights law, humanitarian law, environmental law, economic law, criminal law, the law of the sea, and air and space law, as well as comparative and transnational legal studies. The journal welcomes contributions on issues including state responsibility, treaty law, dispute settlement, human rights in the digital era, armed conflict and civilian protection, climate change, international trade and investment, and maritime governance. It also emphasizes the relationship between domestic and international legal systems, especially from Global South perspectives, and encourages analyses of contemporary issues through theoretical, doctrinal, or empirical approaches.
MAJIL is intended for academics, researchers, legal practitioners, policymakers, non-governmental organizations, and all those interested in legal and constitutional studies. By promoting rigorous academic standards and open access to knowledge, MAJIL seeks to contribute to the advancement of legal scholarship and its practical implications for society.
