Peer Review Process Policy

Peer Review Process Policy

The Indonesian Journal of Aquaculture Medium applies a structured editorial and peer-review process to assess the scientific quality, originality, methodological reliability, and relevance of submitted manuscripts.

Stage 1: Initial Editorial Screening

All submitted manuscripts are initially examined by the Editor or Section Editor to determine their suitability for the journal.

The initial evaluation considers the manuscript's relevance to the objectives and scope, adherence to the author guidelines, completeness of submission requirements, originality, and compliance with publication ethics.

Manuscripts that fail to meet the journal's requirements may be returned for improvement or rejected without external peer review.

Stage 2: Peer Review

Manuscripts that successfully complete the initial screening are assigned to qualified reviewers with expertise relevant to the subject matter.

Reviewers evaluate scientific novelty, research objectives, experimental or methodological design, appropriateness of data analysis, interpretation of findings, literature support, and the manuscript's contribution to fisheries and aquaculture science.

Reviewers provide constructive comments and recommendations to assist the editor in making an informed decision.

Stage 3: Editorial Decision

After considering the reviewers' recommendations, the handling editor may issue one of the following decisions:

  • Accept

  • Minor Revision

  • Major Revision

  • Resubmit for Review

  • Reject

Stage 4: Author Revision

Authors receiving revision requests must address the reviewers' comments and submit a revised manuscript, preferably accompanied by a point-by-point response explaining the changes made.

Stage 5: Final Evaluation

The revised manuscript is assessed by the Editor and may be returned to reviewers when additional scientific evaluation is necessary.

The final decision is made by the responsible Editor based on the manuscript's quality, the reviewers' recommendations, and compliance with journal policies.

Stage 6: Production and Publication

Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, layout preparation, proofreading, and publication in the appropriate journal issue.

All participants must maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards throughout the editorial and review process.
