Publication Ethics
Jurnal Diskresi | Fakultas Hukum Universitas Mataram
This statement is based on Elsevier’s recommendations and COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors. Jurnal Diskresi and its publisher are committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and take all possible measures against any publication malpractice.
Authors who submit manuscripts to Jurnal Diskresi must ensure that their work is original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. Authors also confirm that the manuscript is their own work, free from plagiarism, and that any conflicts of interest or potential benefits have been fully disclosed.
DUTIES OF EDITORS
Decision on the Publication of Articles
The Editor-in-Chief of Jurnal Diskresi is responsible for deciding which articles will be published. Decisions are made in accordance with the journal’s editorial policies and are subject to legal requirements concerning defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Editors may consult with reviewers or other editorial members when making decisions.
Manuscript Review
All submitted manuscripts are first reviewed by the editorial team to assess their suitability and originality, including screening via Turnitin or similar plagiarism detection tools. If deemed appropriate, manuscripts are then sent to two expert reviewers under a double-blind peer review process. Each reviewer recommends whether the manuscript should be accepted, revised, or rejected. The average review period is one month, although this may vary depending on article complexity and reviewer availability.
Confidentiality
The Editor-in-Chief, editors, and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone except the corresponding author, reviewers, or members of the editorial board.
Fair Play
Manuscripts will be evaluated exclusively on academic merit—without regard to the author’s race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, nationality, or political beliefs.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Editors must not use unpublished information from submitted manuscripts in their own research without written permission from the authors.
DUTIES OF REVIEWERS
Confidentiality
Reviewers must treat submitted manuscripts as confidential and must not share or discuss the content with anyone outside of the review process.
Timeliness
If a reviewer is unable to review a manuscript within the specified time, they must inform the editorial board immediately so that alternative reviewers can be appointed.
Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively and constructively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. All comments should be clearly stated with supporting arguments.
Acknowledgement of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant work not cited by the authors and notify the editors of any substantial similarity between the manuscript and other published works.
Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers must not review manuscripts where there is a conflict of interest with any of the authors, institutions, or funders involved in the submission.
DUTIES OF AUTHORS
Reporting Standards
Authors must present their research accurately and objectively, with sufficient detail to allow replication. Falsification or misrepresentation of data is unethical and unacceptable.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure their submissions are original. If they use the work or words of others, appropriate citation is required. Any form of plagiarism will lead to immediate rejection.
Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Publication
Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently is unethical and prohibited.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must be given. Authors should cite influential works that have shaped their research.
Authorship
Only those who have significantly contributed to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study should be listed as authors. Others who contributed substantively should be acknowledged.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that could affect the interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of funding must be disclosed.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works
If an author discovers a major error in their published work, they must immediately notify the Editor and cooperate to retract or correct the article.
Jurnal Diskresi and its publisher do not tolerate plagiarism in any form. All submitted manuscripts are checked for similarity. Any instance of plagiarism will be treated as a serious violation of publication ethics. The journal continuously seeks guidance from its editorial and reviewer board to uphold these ethical standards and ensure academic integrity.
