Personal hygiene is a person's way of preventing the emergence of a disease by paying attention to personal hygiene. The main factor that can facilitate the occurrence of pediculosis capitis infection is poor personal hygiene. Pediculosis capitis is a hair or scalp infection caused by Pediculosis humanus var. capitis which usually occurs in children and adults. Pediculosis capitis is a health problem with a high incidence rate because public knowledge is still low regarding pediculosis capitis and its treatment. Children who live in Islamic boarding schools can easily be infested with pediculosis capitis, this happens because pediculosis capitis is easily transmitted through direct contact with the sufferer's head by sleeping with friends using the same mat. Skin diseases often occur in Islamic boarding schools because some people are not aware of the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness and personal hygiene. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between personal hygiene and the incidence of pediculosis capitis in female students at the Al Bayan Hidayatullah Islamic Boarding School, Makassar. This research method uses an analytical method with a cross sectional approach, the sampling technique used is total sampling. The number of samples in this study was 57 people. The results showed poor personal hygiene (41.9%), good personal hygiene (50.9%), and the incidence of pediculosis capitis (71.9%). The research conclusion shows that there is a significant relationship between personal hygiene and pediculosis capitis which has a significance value of 0.000.Unduhan
