Allegations of Research Misconduct
Allegations of Research Misconduct
The Journal of Fish Nutrition handles allegations of research and publication misconduct fairly, carefully, and on the basis of evidence. Concerns may involve data fabrication or falsification, image manipulation, plagiarism, duplicate publication, research ethics violations, peer review manipulation, or inappropriate authorship.
Reporting Concerns
Reports should be submitted to the journal’s official email address listed on the Contact page. Reports should identify the article title and DOI or manuscript ID, explain the concern, and provide verifiable evidence. Anonymous reports may be considered when sufficient information is available for assessment.
Assessment Procedure
The editor will:
-
Examine the relevance and adequacy of the initial evidence.
-
Ensure that the assessment is handled without conflicting interests.
-
Request explanations and supporting documentation from the authors where necessary.
-
Contact relevant institutions or authorities when a formal investigation is required.
-
Determine appropriate editorial action based on the available evidence.
Editorial processing may be suspended during assessment. The journal evaluates manuscript reliability and the publication record; formal investigations into researchers’ conduct may require institutional involvement.
Outcomes and Appeals
Outcomes may include no further action, requests for amendments, rejection, correction, an expression of concern, or retraction. Sensitive information will be treated confidentially as far as the assessment process permits.
Appeals must be submitted to the journal with supporting reasons and evidence. When an allegation concerns the handling editor, assessment will be assigned to another appropriate editor or independent party.
