About the Journal

About the Journal

The Journal of Fish Nutrition (JFN) publishes original research and review articles that advance scientific knowledge and practical applications in fish nutrition and feeding. The journal provides a platform for researchers, academics, students, and aquaculture practitioners to exchange knowledge and support the development of effective, economically viable, and environmentally responsible feeding strategies.

JFN covers fundamental and applied aspects of nutrition in freshwater, brackishwater, and marine fish. Its scope includes nutritional requirements; conventional and alternative feed ingredients; natural food and live feeds; feed formulation and processing; digestion and nutrient metabolism; feeding practices and management; functional feeds and nutritional health; nutrition under environmental stress; product quality; and the sustainability of aquafeeds. Studies involving other cultured aquatic animals may be considered when they provide clear insights relevant to fish nutrition or aquafeed development.

Publication Schedule

Beginning in 2026, JFN publishes four issues per year, scheduled for March, June, September, and December. Previously, the journal published two issues annually, in June and December.

The journal follows a rolling publication model within each issue. Accepted articles are published online once the final publication files are ready and the applicable publication payment has been confirmed, without waiting for the scheduled issue month. Each issue contains seven articles; subsequent articles are assigned to the next issue once this number is reached. Manuscripts may be submitted throughout the year.

Manuscript Language and Originality

JFN accepts manuscripts written in English or Indonesian. Submissions must fall within the journal’s scope, present original work, and must not have been published as journal articles or be under consideration by another journal. All manuscripts undergo editorial assessment and peer review in accordance with the journal’s policies.
