Abstract

Salt is one of the basic needs and important goods, salt production is also a source of income for people in coastal areas. Salt can also be used in industries such as making caustic soda, sodium soda ash and other productions. The purpose of this study is to determine the performance test on a salt production distiller. Measuring the effectiveness of using biomass energy in the steam distillation process. Analyzing the advantages and challenges in implementing this technology in Pemokog Village. This research method uses a distiller to produce salt. The parameters measured in this study are temperature, mass rate of steam production, evaporation energy, evaporation effectiveness, salt content, water volume. Based on the results of a careful temperature study, namely, environmental temperature, water temperature, wall temperature, room temperature, salt content with an initial salinity of 0.35%, in the calculation of the steam mass rate of 0.4416 kg / hour, evaporation energy of 47,832 Kj, energy produced 145,000 Kj and evaporation effectiveness of 32.98%. With this research, it can be an alternative for the community to produce salt.
