Background: Otitis externa (OE) is one of the most common diseases encountered in otorhinolaryngology practice. OE is an inflammation of the external acoustic canal (CAE). Around 10% of people experience OE at some stage of their lives. OE is related to several factors, one of which is excessive ear cleaning with cotton buds. Some people are still unfamiliar with the dangers of ear cleaning. Therefore, understanding OE is very important. This study aims to improve public understanding of OE by knowing the characteristics of OE patients in the ENT clinic of Mataram University Hospital.
