Analysis of Biogas Production from Organic Waste and Cow Dung Using Mass Balance Approach

Garbage and organic waste are common problems for humans and the environment, currently the management of organic waste and waste has not been carried out properly and is still dominated by disposing of it in the open field or burning it. Garbage and organic waste have the potential to be utilized, one of which is as a material for making biogas. The purpose of this study is to determine the mass balance and the difference in mass balance of biogas production using organic waste and cow dung. The research method used is the experimental method by conducting direct experiments in the field. Some parameters in this study are environmental conditions such as pH, temperature, humidity, retention time, microbial growth requirements and biogas volume. The results of the study are from each total of 2000 kg of organic waste material and cow dung mixed with water, the total slurry that comes out is 498.5 kg of cow dung and 530.5 kg of organic waste. The incoming material from cow dung and organic waste is not balanced with the mass produced due to high mass loss during the process.
