Abstract

Drying coffee beans is a crucial step in the post-harvest process to maintain quality and extend shelf life. This study aims to analyze coffee bean moisture content measurements using an Internet of Things (IoT)-based drying system in a solar dryer dome using the SEN0308 moisture sensor. The study was conducted using an experimental method utilizing a solar dryer dome. The observed parameters included measuring the moisture content of the coffee beans as well as the temperature and humidity inside the solar dryer dome. The results showed that the temperature inside the solar dryer dome ranged from 24 to 46°C with humidity of 36 to 93%, supporting optimal coffee bean drying. The initial moisture content of 64 to 54% gradually decreased to 12% after 5 days of drying. The SEN0308 moisture sensor provided real-time moisture content readings with stable results close to the actual values obtained by the oven method. These finding demonstrate that implementing an Internet of Things (IoT)-based solar dryer dome effectively accelerated the drying process and produced moisture content that met the quality standards for dried coffee beans
