Abstract

Grand Rapid lettuce is one of the varieties of lettuce that belongs to the lettuce group. This study aims to analyze the influence of various types of lamps on the microclimate and growth of Grand Rapid lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) in mini plant factories, analyze the optimal lamp type for the growth of Grand Rapid lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) in mini plant factories, and conduct statistical tests to determine the differences in plant growth from each treatment. The study was conducted 24 days after planting (HST) using an experimental method. The observed parameters included light intensity, temperature, humidity, irradiation duration, nutrient solution, plant growth, flow discharge, and evapotranspiration. The results showed that the highest light intensity was obtained in the L2 treatment of 112880.208 lux, while the lowest in L1 was 5612.375 lux. The temperature in the L2 growing chamber is higher compared to L1 and L3. The humidity in L1 ranged from 71.7-79.7%, L2 between 70.5-79.8%, and L3 from 59.6-72.4%. Irradiation for 20 hours produces the best growth, while 12 hours is the lowest. The pH in the mini plant factory ranges from 6.02-6.94, while in the greenhouse, it ranges from 5.81-6.93. TDS in mini plant factories ranges from 740-1190 ppm and 408-1870 ppm in greenhouses. EC in mini plant factories ranges from 1,262-1,968 mS/m, and in greenhouses, 1,004-1,984 mS/m. The average flow discharge in the mini plant factory is 271,333 ml/second, and in the greenhouse is 296,666 ml/second. The water requirement in the mini plant factory is 30 liters, while in the greenhouse, it is 43 liters. Each treatment significantly affected the number of leaves, root length, canopy area, and total wet weight of the plant.
