Glukokortikoid sampai saat ini sering digunakan sebagai terapi imunosupresan dan antiinflamasi pada berbagai kondisi medis. Selain memberikan manfaat secara klinis, glukokortikoidmemiliki berbagai efek samping salah satunya terkait diabetes melitus yang diinduksi steroid (SIDM). Diabetes mellitus yang diinduksi steroid dapat merupakan onset baru maupun merupakan suatu perberatan hiperglikemia pada pasien yang telah terdiagnosis DMsebelumnya. Hiperglikemia akut dan kronis akibat steroid dapat berdampak pada pemanjangan rawat inap, komplikasi infeksi, penurunan respon terapi dan peningkatan kematian. Tantangan mengelola diabetes mellitus yang diinduksi steroid sangat bervariasi. Pemehaman mengenai patofisiologi, faktor resiko, diagnosis dan terapi dapat menambah wawasan terkait tatalaksana komprehensif pada DM yang diinduksi steroid.Downloads
