Abstract

The corn sheller machine is a machine used to separate corn kernels from the cob without peeling the husk off the corn first. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of variations in moisture content and machine rotation on threshing capacity, threshing efficiency, and the amount of threshing impurities. The research method used is the experimental method. This treatment uses two factors, namely factor A Water Content and factor B Machine Rotation (rpm), with water content values of 17% (A1) and 20% (A2), then with RPM 1500 (B1), 2000 (B2), and 2500 (B3), conducted for three repetitions for each rotation, namely: A1B1, A2B1, A1B2, A2B2, A1B3, and A2B3. In each treatment, 10kg of corn with husks is needed. The observed parameters are the linear rotation of the belt, belt length, torque, speed factor, equivalent load, threshing capacity, threshing efficiency, and the amount of threshing impurities. The results of this study indicate that the influence of factor A (moisture content) is not significant because the ANOVA test value shows more than the 5% level for hulling capacity, hulling efficiency, and hulling impurities. Meanwhile, the influence of factor B (machine rotation) is significant because the ANOVA test value shows less than the 5% level for hulling capacity and hulling efficiency. But the amount of selection bias is not significant or more than the 5% level.
