Aren (Arenga pinnata) is one of the plants that has a high ecological function value and is easily cultivated to support the community's economy. Almost all parts of the aren palm tree can be useful for various needs. Meanwhile, the palm fronds have not been utilized until now. Therefore, the fronds that are not utilized will become garbage or waste, one of which needs to be handled, namely by utilizing them as an alternative for making planting media and compost fertilizer, thus the need for a tool or chopping machine to facilitate the chopping process. The purpose of this study is to determine the performance of the machine, the actual capacity of the machine and the efficiency of the machine. The method used in this research is experimental by making direct observations, tests and measurements with 3 treatments with a mass of material as much as 100 grams, 150 grams, and 200 grams. The measured research parameters are the actual capacity of the machine, the power requirements of the chopper, the torque rotation speed, the performance of the chopping machine, and the efficiency of the chopping machine. The results of the research in measuring the performance of the machine show that the average value of the actual capacity of the machine is 2004.78 grams / hour, the torque rotation speed is 9.34 Nm, the power requirement is 0.978 watts, the chopping yield is 49.69%, the percentage of chopped length is 96.41%, fuel consumption is 49.7, and the highest machine efficiency is 49.7%, the highest treatment value is at a material weight of 200 grams. The performance of the waste chopping machine on the shredded palm fronds, the machine used is still not optimal so that it needs to improve its performance in order to work optimally, the actual capacity of the waste chopping machine is able to produce 2004.78 grams per hour, the highest machine performance efficiency is found in the weight of 200 grams of material with an average value of 49.7%.
