Design and Construction of Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) Floating System

Abstract

Energy is a resource that can be used to carry out various activity processes, including fuel, electricity, mechanical energy and heat. This research aims to design and build a floating system Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) and determine the specifications of the components used in a floating system Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH). The research method used to test this problem is an experimental method by designing a floating system Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) and testing the results of the power plant design. The initial design carried out is designing the tool, determining the size of each part of the tool and determining the components that will be used in the design of the floating system Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH).  The parameters used include turbine planning, pulley and belt transmission, generator, shaft, bearings and floats. The floating system Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) was successfully designed with the maximum power produced when the turbine uses curved blades of 8.13 mW with an actual average turbine rotation speed of 81.2 rpm and dimensions of 140 cm long, 60 cm wide and height 60 cm. The generator installed on this tool, type SF46B-5, can produce 5 – 20 watts of power with a rotation speed of 100 – 2000 rpm. The type of belt used is the belt attached to the sewing machine. The slip test on this tool shows that the slip value when using a flat blade is 22%. When using a curved blade it is, 18.21%. When using a bowl blade, it is 23.69%.
